Healthy cooking workshops June 2019

Over the summer term, Healthy Cooking workshops were provided for pupils from all classes across the school.

These workshops were facilitated by our catering providers, Manchester Fayre and their representative Jack, who came along and worked with Janine and Linda, our school cooks, engaging pupils with fun activities!

The objectives for the workshops were; for pupils to develop basic cookery skills, a sensory awareness of foods and progress towards a healthy lifestyle.

Pupils were supported to make healthy foods for taking home and enjoying with their families in order to celebrate success.

A huge thank you to all involved and especially to our pupils for their enthusiasm and creativity!

Health & Well-Being Fair at The Birches Specialist Support School

On Wednesday 16 January 2019, we held our first Health & Well-Being Fair.
This involved having stalls for various partner organisations laid out in the hall, lots of lovely refreshments and a great atmosphere with access for parents, carers, staff and other professsionals to find out more about working together.
The key objective was for everyone to find out more about partnership working in order to improve utcomes for our pupils.
It was well attended and as you can see from the photographs below, the event was very much enjoyed and we celebrated our highly positive feedback from the evaluation questionnaires.
Thank you to all involved in making the event a huge success!
