Bears Class

Bears class is a structured class of 8 Key Stage 2 children, all of whom are on the autistic spectrum. We aim to keep our routine as consistent as possible and have a very structured day. We do lots of whole group sessions, such as our morning circle time, news sharing, music and Physical Development. We also do small group sessions, where we practise our turn taking and communication skills. For some activities we work 1:1 with an adult. This includes Phonics, reading and Maths. We have lots of movement breaks in-between sessions to support us with self-regulation and we regularly use our outdoor area.

We also make use of the fantastic resource areas at school, such as the swings, ICT suite and slide playground. We particularly enjoy our weekly Forest School sessions!

We encourage ‘good listening’ and ‘good work’ through the use of our star charts. When we achieve our stars, we can choose a reward time activity, such as a toy, game or outside play.

We are a happy and lively class who love to learn, play and celebrate achievements!
