We work with class teams across school to support all children’s communication skills. This involves assessing skills within the classroom setting, setting targets and supporting class teams to achieve these targets.
The Birches School and Speech and Language Therapy work together to create a total communication environment. This means using objects, pictures, signing and words in order to support and develop your child’s understanding, expressive communication and interaction skills.

Throughout the year, we will be offering parent workshops. These will help you to develop communication at home, using some of the strategies we use in school. We will let you know when these are, please feel free to join us.
Siobhan is in school on Mondays and Tuesdays. Angela works on the communication team three days a week, running groups, modelling strategies and preparing resources to support communication across school and home.
If you want to get in touch with one of us, please write in your child’s home-school book and we will get back to you.
