We work for the NHS to deliver Speech and Language therapy in school by working with the class teams across school to support all children’s communication skills. This involves assessing skills within the classroom setting, setting targets and supporting class teams to achieve these targets. In this way, The Birches School and Speech and Language Therapy work together to create a total communication environment. This means using objects, pictures, signing and words in order to support and develop your child’s understanding, expressive communication and interaction skills.

Throughout the year, we offer parent workshops. These will help you to develop communication at home, using some of the strategies we use in school. We will let you know when these are, please feel free to join us.

Holly is in school on Mondays and Tuesdays and Siobhan on Mondays and some Thursdays. If you want to get in touch with one of us, please send a message via your child’s class dojo and we will get back to you.
